Nokia N95 Error: “No gateway reply”

July 9th, 2007

To get rid of this error, you will need to define your IP address and gateway

To do so, follow these steps:

1. On Nokia N95 go to
Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Access Points

2. Select and open your WLan network

3. Goto Options menu and select ‘Advanced Settings’

4. Select IPv4 Settings ,
Set some IP address.
Set subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Set gateway address

Best way for step 4 is to check these setting on the pc connected to a wireless lan.
Just go to DOS prompt (run / type ‘cmd’) and check network settings by typing ‘ipconfig /all’.

Once done your browsing should work.

This will work if you’ve only 1 WLAN to work with, however, when you’re in cybercafe or Starbucks, it’d be difficult to define all this settings. Is there any other way to fix this issue? I think it happens mainly after the upgrade to firmware v11.
