How to develop Maemo apps for Nokia N900 in Windows environment? (QT+MADDE)

April 4th, 2010

This is is a simple guide for those who’re wondering how to develop application for N900 in Windows.

- Installed Qt for Windows SDK from http://qt.nokia.com/downloads (you’ll find it in LGPL tab, called: qt-sdk-win-opensource-2010.02.1.exe or newer).
- Then install the latest build of MADDE from http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/MADDE.php, the one you’re looking for is: MADDE installer for Windows – install-madde-0.6.14.exe (or newer).
- Then follow this guide for Madde + QT intergration http://wiki.maemo.org/MADDE/QtCreator_integration_for_windows
. As for instructions in this guide, make sure you do not install the latest official QtCreator for this integration. The version has to be >= 1.3.80!
. I’ve found the latest build of QtCreator for Windows on Nokia’s QT FTP site (ftp://ftp.qt.nokia.com/qtcreator/snapshots/), it was a version 2.0.0: qt-creator-win-opensource-2.0.0-alpha1.exe
. Also, I couldn’t get my Nokia N900 connected by using PC Connectivity tool via USB cable, so I’ve just edited N900′s settings, assigned to it a static IP on WLAN interface and connected that way.

I hope this helped.
