If you get an error "Fault outside of MS-DOS Extender", when installing Win98 in Virtual Box (vbox), take these steps to solve the issue:

In Vbox settings:

  • Uncheck "Enable VT-x/AMD-V".
  • Uncheck "Enable PAE/NX"

This solution works for Win3.11 and Win98SE.
